The Director General, NBC, Mall. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, today, 22nd January 2018, met with the Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Alhaji Adedayo Thomas and the Director General/Executive Secretary of the Board of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mrs. Roli Bode-George, at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting was to discuss the worrisome trend of vulgar and indecent lyrics and videos in circulation, particularly on the airwaves. While all 3 CEOs agreed that there was a need to collaborate in checking the trend, Mallam Kawu of NBC added that the Commission would collaborate with NFVCB and NDLEA, to host an engagement with major music producers and artistes to look at the place of the music industry in promoting Nigeria’s culture, ethics and core values.
He further stated ‘’because Nigerian music is a major export, we cannot deny them free expression but we must ensure they know that they have certain responsibilities’’.
